But no matter what we always stuck together as a family. One of our family’s saddest times was when your uncle died unexpectedly. Your grandparents were great parents who raised three strong boys before your grandfather died. When your grandpa was nine he had an illness that left him with health problems but he was helped by his sister and had a surgery that extended his life for many more years. Life was not easy but he worked hard, went to college, and had his own family. He was born during the great depression and was the youngest child. Your grandfather grew up on the family farm as one of fourteen children. We’ve supported learning environments resulting in improved educational results, family relationships, physical health and the reduction of children passing through the child protection system. The Healing Foundation is working to end intergenerational trauma by creating resources and programs that strengthen cultural connectedness and identity and improve the social and emotional wellbeing of our young people.
